Full back Morey scores late leveller for Mallorca
Real Mallorca 1 – Celta Vigo 1

A goal from Mallorca’s right wing back from Petra, Mateu Morey, in the 88th minute in front of 16,247 fans on a hot, sticky evening in the Son Moix, gave Real Mallorca a last-gasp equaliser against Celta Vigo. It was a game that lacked quality and showed that with regard to the new season Mallorca are still a “work in progress”.

I’ve been banging on for weeks about our lack of goals and Saturday’s game was the same old story. Most of the team put in a decent shift but were not doing any damage up front and it proved the point when our late equaliser came from a defender.

The visitors went ahead in the 38th minute with a sucker punch goal. Celta scored after having done little to nothing in the attacking sense. Our best scoring chance came when Pablo Torre hit a tremendous shot from distance, which brought out a brilliant save from Celta’s Romanian goalkeeper Radu.

With time running out, Marc Domenech rescued a ball that was drifting along the byline. Talking about nightmares, next Saturday night we head for Real Madrid, kick off 21:30.

PS After my rant about the extortionate prices for bottled water at the Barcelona game, and a formal complaint from Mallorca’s supporters clubs, on Saturday night the outlets were doing a two-for-one deal at 3€ – result !,
